Another gorgeous day in Michigan. It's Memorial Day weekend and we decide to go up North to visit some friends and cook out. I booked a couple mystery shops on the way, because the pay was really good, and they were on the route we were taking.
So we get things packed up and start on the road. Heading out Apple Ave. having a good time we get to our turn to head North and start going up 37. About three miles down the road my husband says, "Oh no this isn't good." Our van overheated and shut down. Oh joy. We were able to coast a ways and pull off into an auto body shop. It was closed, but lucky for us one of the workers was there washing his car. He let us use some bottles and water to dump back in my radiator. Thanks so much, we really appreciate the help. The thermostat inside my van registers at 260 degrees and we went past that. Crap, not like I have any money for a new vehicle.
We sat in the parking lot for a few minutes while the engine cooled down. Did I forget to mention it's 85 degrees outside? We had our dog in car and my daughter has a respiratory disease. It's really hard for her to breathe in the heat. I called my mystery shop scheduler and had to cancel my shops. There goes $80. My husband called a friend of his for a ride to get us back home. Luckily, the van restarted and we were able to drive a mile down the road to the Half Moon Bar & Grill and stopped in for lunch while we waited for our ride to pick us up. What a great lunch. If you ever get out that way stop and eat there. The food was awesome. Our ride showed up just as we were finishing our food and took us home.
It was hot so I took a nap while my husband picked up a car carrier and went back to get our van. When he got home we decided a trip to the beach was in order. So we loaded up in his van and headed out. Our dog had a great time swimming in the lake and we met some nice people down there to talk with. Karlie had a wonderful time playing in the mud and it was just really relaxing. On the way home we stopped for ice cream.
Moral of my story, so life don't go the way you plan it. Big deal. You can still have fun doing something different.
